Two Cents from 2016

(Apologies for being MIA for almost 2 months...C'est la vie?)

My inspiration today comes from overwhelming feelings of a huge (quite consumerist-crazy) holiday ending, alongside the burning obligation to reflect before New Years Eve arrives. I personally think it's hilarious how stressed out some people get over New Years and all its eerie festivities. Every day brings equal opportunity for productivity or resolution-making, not just New Years day.

"I mean, my life is pretty great but does this mean now I have to make a bold resolution? Or several?"

"Omg 2016 was so shitty! 2017 is my year for sure. 2017 is the year of progress!"

Haha...these are just two examples of thoughts I imagine start brewing even a month before the final holiday. However, I admit this does not accurately represent everyone, of course. There are plenty of people who celebrate the New Year in simplicity, if at all. I, for one, can't seem to escape the need to sit down and reflect on what has happened in the course of my life...let alone one year.

Time is a blind man, and he never looks back.

It'd be so great if we could figure out time travel, but we haven't! Time is all we have, and using it wisely is something I've really tuned into for 2016. There's a video I watched the other night that seamlessly demonstrated this valuable lesson:

"Philosophy 101" via Youtube.

Pretty cool, right? So focus on the golf balls! Prioritize the important stuff first while you still have the time. It makes me so sad to hear all the regrets some have about not paying more attention to the big things, taking loved ones for granted, losing touch with close friends or family, or just not being mindful of the present moment!

I wish for myself, and for all of you readers, a year full of good health and joy...a year of mindfulness and focus on gratitude...a year with a clear mind to help plan out any goals or changes you may want...and a year where you can master to love yourself first, flaws and all...so you may fully love others. <3
